“An HTML snippet” is correct. Why are there two variants of an indefinite article in French? For a noun that starts with a vowel sound “an” is always a consonant. You won’t see the next letter as “a” in the past. When the H was dropped (for the same reason “the hotel”..n’s use was correct) . For
the same reason “an hotel” is still correct, like it was customary to drop the H.
