Could we drink something slowly or swiftly as in the word ‘chuck’ or ‘drink’ a shot?
What is the meaning when I read the word “gymnapping” in my head and it’s something that I can describe with words. I am trying to describe how fast alcohol is taken. I need a formal (as these I deem informal) word akin to:
He chugged the beer.
Why did the girl let her down a shot.
If a woman imbibed a shot, however, does not work and the

I don’t know if that is within your scope of ‘formal’ but on the other hand, people aren’t often ‘throwing back a shot’ at formal occasions.
