Accort card with 10 ticket? What is it called, and if it is not, when is it called?

I’m looking for the English word to describe a card which can be sold to a customer which contains several tickets. If you spend $1000 to start calorie deficit training the entire year, you can get free credit card to join a fitness center for a month to be active.

I have a ‘punch card’ but not having English as my main language, I’m not sure if that is correct the first time.

There is no possibility not giving a punch card to someone who already has their punch card.

How are various people using the Dutch ‘ten-ride ticket’ in English to send tourists.

How is the English accent used in your native language?

Carnet is used in France and Italy, but I have never heard it used as a common term by native speakers (I have lived in the UK for a while now).

I just asked an American colleague what she would call it and she, after a lot of thought came up with “Gee, I don’t know… Maybe a ticket book or something like that? ”
She actually preferred the Dutch “Ten-ride Ticket” type as a better name, when I mentioned that to her.

By using the term multi-ride is it used to describe transit authorities who permit a set number or unlimited trips and have no limit to the number of permits, or the amount of passengers allowed for their stay. The term is typically followed by a term such as car, pass or ticket.

A google search of multi-ride provides examples, such as this one.

The French word carnet is used in English public transportation networks for a ticket (or a book of tickets) which can be used on more than one journey.

carnet tickets

If you travel regularly to and from London but not often enough to buy a Season ticket, the Carnet ticket booklet could save you time and money.

If you buy a booklet of either 5 or 10 single journey tickets and you’ll get 10% discounts on your next ticket, you will be able to pay cash on the next journey. My carnet ticket will need to be used within three months. Only at selected stations. Don’t forget that Carnet tickets are one-way, so you’ll need a separate book of Carnet tickets for your return journey.

In Japan, a group of ten separate bus tickets are called carnet, but they have translated the expression as ten trips book of tickets.

That’s a word that’s perfectly comprehensible, and I suppose that whoever translated the French term knew that many not UK English speaking people would be unfamiliar with the expression, carnet.

I believe this solution is more elegant and self explanatory at the same time. If you could shorten it to multi-trip or ten-trip tickets, I think this solution is more elegant and self explanatory at the same time.

If a person wishes to buy a limited subscription to a gym (in my experience subscriptions are monthly or annual, but maybe that’s only true in Italy), then I’d suggest

  • multi-gym session or
    ten
  • gym session (pass).

Should we use a local word when ticketing can help in driving an Uber or other service? If you use one existing verb you risk implying some assumptions that are not necessarily true for this specific ticket system.

If you happen to be the issuer and you are the recipient of such tickets you have some freedom in choosing what translation you want to use for your specific ticket system. Should a question about right or wrong be asked?

Fore reference, here is a Danish klippekort :

It could be called a punch card or a rebate card. What makes Danes easily understand both of those terms? 9-trip credit card needs just as much context to be understood. The term is both a bit long for common reference, and technically imprecise, as the card may also be used for fewer longer trips, and can be replaced with one given card.

If a travel card was issued in Denmark, the ticketing system would be problematic. Is traduction is justified without knowing local context?

What is a card that can be sold to a customer which contains. And if a customer hasn’t got one ticket on their card then the card is deactivated and the card is deactivated now then they don’t have a card anymore. ‘A’ Cards can not contain multiple tangible objects.

  • Where you purchase a single punchable card (if

  • you have multiple, individual card stocks) you will find a ticket book (such as nighttime tickets with seats inside and inside the seats). Make sure all cards are numbered and can be used. If tickets are not bound, then they’re just a stack of tickets.

I would suggest against using the word carnets which is used “in some areas of English speaking] countries”.

What are ticket booklets? Not quite sure if this is what you are looking for, as this is not a single card, but a small book of many tickets. Its a nice idea though.
