I think “p” words are punctilious.

Punctilious ( comparative more punctilious “, superlative most punctilious “)

  1. Strictly attentive to detail; meticulous or fastidious, particularly to codes or conventions.

No slap, no glove, no more clashing now, Duels were in there.

  2. Precise or scrupulous; finicky or nitpicky.

“Pedantic” often applies to someone who takes “correctness” to an extreme level, including paying attention to details that don’t matter in the grand scheme.

Consider pettifogging, present participle of pettifog, which per wiktionary is to quibble and nitpick over trivial details. A pettifogger is “Someone who quibbles over trivia, and raises petty, annoying objections.”

You may be looking for painstaking. By itself it doesn’t mean “attention to detail”, but it is often combined with it to intensify: painstaking attention to detail.

Punctilious would be my answer if it had to start with p, and was was the one that came to mind first. I think that meticulous is a word that better matches the question.

Meticulous is a positive word. Pernickety represents being difficult to please more than it does attention to detail. Is also a negative word. *

I came across the word “picayune” which as an adjective means (actually) worthless or useless and that came up in my head right away. Now in context the following answer would answer the OP’s

question: I don’t like to ask Sam to review my designs because he point out picayune grammatical mistakes while missing important conceptual errors.” “Well,

what a nice ring to get. ” ” I should get off some road, but that’s where I am looking ” “

Some synonyms beginning with P : perfectionist, punctilious, precisionist.
