In basketball, you can actively block your opponent’s shot. How can you impede a great opponent’s progress?

In golf, players fight because you and their opponents perform independently of each other. I.e., you play or shoot and avoid one another while you play a game or shoot or shoot. You can’t block the swing you are playing in. Then you can’t run up and block somebody’s swing. Then, at the end, whoever did the best revealed her to God.

I’m wondering if there is a word representing these two different types of sports. If I can’t find a word, I’ll describe one as an antagonistic sport (i.e. tennis, football, diving, etc) by him/herself. (i.e. basketball), or at least match one of the two words, or the other) (i.e. baseball, guitar, video, etc.). two antagonists actively combatting you; the one as an independent sport.
