Why isn’t Fancy asking me that?

What does the phrase “fancy asking me that!” means? I reckon it’s something like “how dare you ask me something this way” in a sarcastic way. Is it a real cause?

When one is surprised, he or she replies in a surprised voice. If you are

unbelieveable, why should you ask me that question?
What might be the reasoning behind an epic fan asking me about this?

can be as light hearted as, How dare you, asking me that?

All you need is context in order to know if it

is sarcastic or not.

Peter has hit around the issue, but not really on the mark. In fact, fancy is a fancy (and somewhat archaic) synonym for imagine :
