Why do some –ing adjectives take the definite article “the”?
When we don’t say: I look
forward to seeing you or in the doing so.
In the beginning, in
fighting, ruling, etc., we say that we do to all people here!
As such, is there any different rule concerning the –ing nouns or they should follow the same rules as the common nouns do?
Is it a good idea to write a textbook of ethics?
Are’seeing’ nouns? Is it a verb? Why or why not? Consequently, this is a verb the form of ‘-ing’. And due to ‘look forward….’ pattern, it takes the verb in the form of ‘-ing’.

Simply because it is shorter, because the article does not achieve much, and because without article the sense is as clear as with article.
