When can we use ‘like’ or ‘like’?

Although they are smaller, chipmunks are ______________ more than other ground squirrels.
A. like to
B. like as
C. like
D. alike

the correct answer was C. I think the correct name must be ‘D’.
I thought we can use similar between two singular name and ‘alike’ after plural name or two singular. If it’s’my’, let’s use it!

Noun + is like + Noun Noun + are alike Noun + are alike Why the answer

Here are two nouns to be compared before (chipmunks) and after (most other ground squirrels) ‘like’.

Since chipmunks and most other ground squirrels

are similar, it is a better idea to list them as “similars” (noun + noun) and not “different” (noun = noun).

As for Chipmunks, they are

also the same (plural noun) and so are eek of muck.
