reflects a hated American Senator.
Why? (of late 1980s England), famous in Russia for his tweets to “Dear Vlad. In 2011, for example, Mr. McCain tweeted Putin “Dear Vlad, The ArabSpring is coming to a neighborhood near you. Will you take me out? ”

Another hated ‘expletive’ is the Republican senator McCain from Virginia,…
As Sompuperoo said, it’s an abbreviation that gives the political party and state of the congressperson. It’s very common to use three-letter abbreviations for the state, as in R-TX (Republican from Texas) or D-NY (Democrat from New York) respectively. This kind of abbreviation is normally used after a person’s name. When you say D-Flam, you don’t necessarily use words. When you know that it is your choice, you play with words.
On the political blogs you usually see a similar abbreviation used to refer to numbered congressional districts within a state, such as TX-18 (the eighteenth district of Texas) or NY-04 (the fourth district of New York).
I suspect this abbreviation was invented if we were to speak of U.S. politics. The use of abbreviation is probably the most common. How do we identify MPs in the UK, Canada and Australia from their political backgrounds? (Commonwealthers, please correct me if I’m wrong.)
