What is the importance of ending in a sentence?

What is the reason for using an -ing ending in “awesome” with “different countries have proven equally amazing”.

Is the attribute of amaze as a participle verb or is it functioning as adjective and the adverb is modifying the adjective?

I’ve been wasting my

weekend without a phone to get a virus. Any idea here?
