is idiomatic. It is widely accepted as a
correct phrase.
Is it
true that Statement #2 is a “correct” replacement for Statement #1?
Sentence B : Most people prefer the metal straight edge over the plastic straight edge.
Likewise, in Sentence C the word “people” is lost, unless explicitly defined. This is improper, since it is a sentence which is described as having “most anthropologists prefer things”.
In Sentence #1, the word one referring to “festival”, and its omission in Statement #2, forces the assumption that “the only of” is referring — directly, and unambiguously — to anything considered to be “festival”
