What is ‘over asking’?

The kid wants a stuffed toy but it’s been refused in the past. How does this work? He asks for so much and “no” which is something that he knows would be too expensive. What will he ask for most of the time? Eventually a shy family member asks for the child to play with and then asks for the gift. “He made his move and asks,” she says, not wanting to deny him?

For an episode of “Modern Family”, the same thing happens. 2 people are remodeling a house, and one guy keeps overasking, and later “settling” for what he really wanted. Is there any downside?

What you ask for first isn’t what you want after.. so consider offering things for the sake of a different result.. What you may not have heard? What’s a good word to express this tactic?

Why I do what I do, but am I biased? I just don’t believe in reading anyone else’s opinions. I get my share.

If websites

When is the best idea to strike out first and strike high? Among the negotiating parties, the anchor is a first sum on the table. The article shoud, unsurprisingly, suggest negotiating parties ask for a higher sum than they would take to be ready to take. What is anchoring bias in education?

I don’t see how it is fundamentally any different, as a tactic, from bargaining. The law permits such invocations, but the act of negotiating can not permit that.

In the latter the buyer starts off by asking a higher price than that for which he/she would be prepared to settle, and the seller starts off by offering a lower price than they would be prepared to pay. (i.e., they would not have to carry out any checks).

So a child, negotiating with its parents simply begins by asking for less than they really want, and the parents may start by offering less than they are prepared to give.

After a crisis is settled, a

bargain continues to be struck.
