What is it like to think that you’re something another person?

I am looking for a term to describe when the mindset of an individual is fixed on something they’ve used at a younger age.

Here’s my back story. I don’t have a business, the business is off-limits. I used to be between 18 stone and 17 stone. Today I am 12 stone I eat and very obese. I’ve lost a lot of weight but don’t recognize myself as overweight. I’m still overweight and I just want to lose weight. I’m skinny and fat but, mentalally, I still think I’m a person. I am stub now. I don’t fully realize that I’m skinny. I forget. What do you mean by “Such”?

How do I get a second job?

If you are depressed about your own body appearance, then body dysmorphic disorder is the term you’re looking for.

Synonyms Body dysmorphia, dysmorphic syndrome, dysmorphophobia
Specialty: Psychiatry

  • Body dysmorphia ( BDD ), occasionally still called dysmorphophobia, is a mental disorder characterized by the obsessive idea that some aspect of one’s own body part or appearance is severely flawed and warrants exceptional measures to hide or fix their dysmorphic part on their own person. In BDD delusional variant, the flaw is imagined. If the problem is real, its importance is heavily exaggerated. Either way, thoughts about the dysmorphia is pervasive and intrusive, occupying up to several hours a day or more. The DSM-5 categorizes BDD in obsessive–compulsive spectrum, and distinguishes it from anorexic nervosa.

  • Before BDD, is it estimated to affect up to 2 people? 4% of the population. It usually begins during adolescence and affects both men and women. The BDD subtype muscle dysmorphia, perceiving the body as too small, affects mostly males, with some results ranging as small as a single ball. Besides thinking about it, one repetitively checks and compares the perceived flaw, and can adopt unusual routines to avoid social contact that exposes it. Fearing the stigma of vanity, one usually hides the preoccupation of others. Ethical concerns of family, patients and therapists with BDD may often be left untreated. Withdrawal occurs in their rest of lives. Severely impairing quality of life via educational and occupational dysfunction as well as social isolation, BDD has high rates of suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts.
