What is a word for “to make scary”?

What word does “a scary person make something scary?” and how do I say “do not make scared,” and why do I say “Dear God” or “do something scary”? I hate words for scaring people. I don’t like scaring any one. They _________ their

house for Halloween? What are some examples?

The staff ___________ at the haunted house and it was a very intimate experience.

The owners had _________ the area which caused the kids to be frightened.

The suffix -fy means to make or becoming: beautify, simplify, liquefy.

So you can add -fy to an adjective. Scary would be problematic because scarify means to make scarred (as in marks on the skin) rather than make scary.

Where is Spookify?

Can you suggest me some examples?
