What is a chatroom?

According to Wikipedia (The

Internet Archive for the Humanities): the term chat room is primarily used to describe any form of synchronous conferencing, occasionally even asynchronous conferencing.

Merriam Webster lists chat room as the main term, with chatroom as a variant. Free Dictionary explains that Wikipedia contains quite an extensive list of articles (both fictional and non-fiction). None of these sources elaborates on the difference in usage, if any, between the two terms.

What is the difference between Chatroom and Chat room?

  • Why is one term more correctly said than other?
  • What are some examples of use of their products in different circumstances?
  • Is there a gene that is older from the earliest and evolved from it?
