What are some words or phrases that also mean “way of thought”?

What word do you use to mean “a way of thought”?

Does someone show interest about something? Whether someone is confident or not, it is simply how he thinks. How are “Interest” and “Confiance” taken to mean “ways of thinking”.

I was thinking of the word “mental” however “mental” means “relating to the mind” which is too wide. If “tiredness” is related to the mind it isn’t a “way of thought”.
