Use of would in past tense for now.

Eha, my teacher made many marks on my book for my use of could. I really enjoy it and I am going to write my biography this month. I wrote, “He would

publish his first mathematics paper at the age of eighteen. My

teacher said I should have used published instead of would publish. But I really really do have to do. Has anyone figured out why past tense is wrong for a biography? I don’t think he is right and I feel that this issue is more about stylistic differences. i as well I am still unsure so any help would be appreciated. What are some examples of what I can do online?

1) me-> me-> “One year later he went on to earn his him-> Ph.D…” him-> should have been earned and I shouldn’t get rid of went

on me-> to 2) me-> “He would be associated with the him-> project until 1955.” him-> should have been and

not me-> would be 3) me-> “Von Neumann would go on him-> to write, “” him-> should have been

gone me-> and not would go 4) me-> “Between 1927-1930 Von Neumann would him-> teach mathematics.”

Should I write this like a biography? You are writing with a style and tense that indicates that you are telling events from a standpoint that you know they will happen before they do, which is fine. “Verges” Is storytelling bad? My mother wrote my mind at a time where she said I should write her mind from a factual standpoint where something has already happened, in a perhaps sequential order telling what happened first then what happened next which makes sense also and shows that she can read the mind on second thoughts or situations. So in a way it is only a stylistic difference. As long as you choose a tense and stick with it throughout your biography, it is grammatically correct and makes sense.
