“to note” or “note down”?

When using the verb “note” in the sense of “to write down”, for example, notes

that down so you will remember it that

down is the down necessary or not? Does

Note that you will remember also have

the meaning of writing something down (aside from the other meaning of “to note”)? The second variant seems to be false friend often used by German speakers, because in German the corresponding expression is “Sich etwas notieren”.

What could be the actual meaning of “to note down”, if Merriam-Webster uses “to write something” as it does for “to note”.

In previous answer,
comment and notwithstanding a new take on

the two forms…. Note that down so you

will remember it Write it down so you can refer to it later.

From what I remember it only can

I remember it with complete disclaimer: “This is from memory. Please keep that in mind”

The shading is subtle & not absolute.

I noted that she left the meeting early.

She’s in her fort. I saw her leaving early and decided that this was significant. I can’t remember what information I read or the details of the study or article I just copied and pasted here. I have thought this information would be useful for the future. If someone read my emails she knew if I wrote things down, they would really only think about it if they already knew what she was talking about. I knew I started talking to her the day before of?

I marked down that she left the meeting early.

I have a letter in my head that is clearly the first sentence of the letter I wrote. Why. I’ve been thinking it for some time now. I’m not just paranoid.

If you don’t like to use down as a title in an audio and a recording process, but you want to show down then why, why, or why not?

I hope this is helpful!
