The difference between”… In Introduction” and “… In The Introduction”

I work on a thesis, with several chapters.

Where the chapter 1 of the book is called Introduction & why is it called Introduction and why? When we want to say “ABC is defined in Chapter 1”, I feel I can avoid using “Chapter 1” “Introduction”

What is correct: “in the introduction” (referring

  1. to the general concept of introductions/conducting), “in introduction” (referring to
  2. Chapter 1 by its name); neither, both or something
  3. completely different from the original. The main point was to go over each section through the introduction of a chapter.
