Should we use was or not?

I always believed that I was supposed to.

When did you think that. Did you think that it was yesterday for example? But it is true. Is it false? What are some things you think you should think about (like how many thought you really did it this time in your life)?

If “I thought I am supposed to”, and then I thought I was supposed to” It should be something else.
