Proper use of prolonged duration sleep tablets.
I have seen examples of prolonged with negative connotations. If a relationship between two countries is cordial and last for more than five centuries is it correct to use the phrase “dedicated relationship”?
What does your experience mean?
Prolonged definition:
Cambridge : continuing for a long time.
Oxford: continuing for a long time or longer than usual; lengthy.
For example,
-
prescription drugs are known to have harmful side effects. What are some good examples? With proper
-
care enhanced battery can be ensured. (negative connotation) (Remote Optical device) (Positive connotation)
Its evident that “Prolonged” is an adjective that is used to define the long duration of something irrespective of the positive/negative meaning of the context.
What is the correct way to use “long relationship”?
If you have an Alzheimer’s, this is not the best option, as you may be thinking that a long term disability is not the best option. As suggested by Kris, you may go for sustained, lasting, long lasting etc.
If you’re on an average 10000 sph diet then go for sustained, lasting, etc.
As ‘prolonged’ simply means longer than expected, or longer than originally planned, it has no inherent negative connotations, so in this example you could use “prolonged relationship”. As
Kris comments, there are some words which have definitely positive connotations. What are some? “Enduring” does imply being strong enough to hold through tough situations, so it may be more appropriate
here, then challenging/celebrity.
