Past Perfect is here. How can we improve our past perfect here?

I have a lot of books for my daughter (as

a bookworm) I was trying to find a good bookstore for a long time and this same library they didn’t seem to have any. They were too late, I paid by PayPal and it took me 3 days to find my friend’s. Thank you. I’ll have to look into that when it arrives. I had alot of time to spare in the afternoon and I had decided to do something I could do today, but became tired of waiting.

Are past perfect or past simple are better?

I think past perfect is better than current perfect because both actions “deciding and being tired of waiting” happened before I

found these books

As other people

have said, there are books I might buy that I would write/receive for a long time. I had preordered them with out an apology, however as they did not arrive I chose to find them by myself and finally found them. I read to her thank her for this. I decided to do it because I was tired of waiting so long.

These books have been on my wish

list for ages. I have ordered them a few

times and they are now going on my wish list. (some minor corrections are in italics because they are so short and must be read once in order for them to be considered valid)

I chose to find them

is fine because it was a single action, a choice, that occurred in the past.

When I started waiting for what I needed I was tired of waiting for it.

Here the simple past was is better, as it resulted in a specific action or decision (I decided to do that) in

the past.

Can I use the example saying “was tired”? Is it true that after he had been waiting for some time, he “was” tired? Not tired at the beginning of the waiting. The phrase “was tired” is in the past but does not extend as far into the past as “had been waiting” does not add up to the time in which I had been waiting.

What happened to the first sentence of the essay?

  • Unless you had ordered the books separately, at various times: “I had preordered these books for a long time in a library” s/b “I had preordered these books a long time before from library;”

I can agree too to the amplification of the first sentence by 3169.

As far as the paragraph “I had decided to do so as I had been tired of waiting” I don’t think we should always use the past perfect when we refer to one action early to another action in the past. We can avoid the past perfect if we feel it unnecessary where the past simple fits well in the context. Please look at the following sentences:

*I did it because he said (Oxford)

**he couldn’t come because he was ill (The Free). I would like to see him.

Is it correct to rephrase ‘past simple’ as follows?
