One word that means change the sign of a sentence. The words are pronounced differently and are often used interchangeably.

I’m attempting to describe the process of changing the sign of a variable (in a math/programming context), but I’m not able to come up with a singular word for that process, even though it seems like there should be one. What do you mean by “negate” in regular English?

Can the word “to change the sign of” be used with any longer supposition?

What can I do to improve my language skills?

I would be hesitant to use invert. Remember that it can just as easily mean to take a multiplicative inverse (that is, 1 x or 1 x)?

Additive inverse.

“This operation is also known as the opposite (number), sign change, and negation”

What happened first to you was negate and your answer “no” Of course if I’m using make negative it wouldn’t apply to the original value, just changing it to positive.
