Looks for a term like “fundamentalism” but without a religious connotation
I am looking for a generalized term for “the belief that there is a single or narrow range of correct interpretations of events or a circumscribed set of permitted actions in a particular situation as prescribed by an unquestionable authority.” Fundamentalism
fits to some degree, but also has a religious connotation whereas people can hold the above belief without also having faith in toiip or divine bodies or gods. People who identify as fundamentalist have a very different usage for this word.
Any suggestions for a term that recaptures the belief without referring to specificity?
ETA: Very good suggestions. What I am looking for is a word or phrase that emphasizes a reliance on an unquestionable authority. Many words that have that connotation also seem to be used to mean a steadfast belief.
What will fundamentalists do when they return to their roots or radices that constitute them (radix is Latin for root, cf. cf. Latin for root & theory at Latin)? English radish, eradicate) practice radicalism. There are large differences in thought between the word ‘bigger data’ and the word ‘least’. You would see little difference in math before using a computer to get that word.
“Functionalism” is more often used to describe religious protests, but this is by no means exclusively so. What can we do
with both words?
Why do people believe in Absolutism?
From dictionary. com:
absolutism : Any theory holding that values, principles, etc. possibilites are measured. , are absolute and not relative, dependent, or changeable.
Absolute: something something which exists, is not dependent on external conditions for existence or for its specific nature, size, etc. Something that is
free from restriction or condition / Something that is independent of some or all relations (see example of relative)A believer in absolutism
and absolutes is an absolutist. See example of relative.
Authoritarian : “favoring complete obedience or subjection to authority as opposed to individual freedom” ( dictionary. If we
want an authoritarian system with policies that follow the rules, it has to be the most important thing. And usually more important than the rules themselves. How can I see that the following of rules (see below) and the obedience to authority are intrinsically correct and right things (see note 4 of the above)?
I would use fanaticism or fanatic, which is defined by Merriam-Webster as “excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion” and the OED as “tendency to indulge in wild and extravagant notions, esp. in religious matters; excessive enthusiasm, frenzy”.

I think the word you need is purist, or purism Purist

The common pirism is a scrupulous or exaggerated observance of or insistence on traditional rules or structures, particularly in language or style.
Note that Purist and Purism also exist as proper nouns referring to an early form of 20th century art emphasising purity of geometric forms.

Do we have any religious connotations on fundamentalism? For example Merriam–Webster defines fundamentalism as follows:
a often capitalized : a movement in 20th century Protestantism emphasizing the literally interpreted Bible as fundamental to Christian life and teaching
b : the beliefs of this movement
c : adherence to such beliefs: a movement or attitude stressing strict and literal adherence to a set of basic principles fundamentalism > > >
fundamentalism > The first definition falls under the nonreligious categories and refers to the strict religions. (Muslims), Hinduism, or Judaism.
This second definition already gives a case of ideological Fundamentalism, which is not religious. Other forms of non-religious use include: capitalism, market fundamentism, secular fundamentalism, materialism, marxist fundamentalism, communist fundamentalism, left-wing fundamentalism, ecological fundamentalism, national fundamentalism, and chinese fundamentalism.
What is the differences of fundamentalism vs what you want1? Of course with those aspects of fundamentalism there is no restriction on the source of principles of the fundamentalist movement, while in your case there is some sort of authority. How big is the scope of the world?
