Is it true that some prepositional phrases are incorrect?

My mom has been arranging flowers in a vase. How is this different from me?

‘arranging flowers’ is prepositional phrase and it modifies ‘in the vase’ but not to modify the subject ‘My mother’.

What do you think of Jess?

What are prepositional phrases? In the vase is a prepositional phrase, with the preposition ‘in’ at its head.

In your sentence, ‘arranging’ is the main verb and ‘flowers’ is the direct object.

The verb is the same in both cases and used in different ways.
