Is it correct and logical to say “I shall go there in my own way”?

To express that I will use my own transportation means and route to get there rather than going with a group following the proposed route, can I say, ‘I will go (or get) there in my own way’? Do native English speakers sound unnatural or possibly unnatural?

What is your opinion about a controversial bill?
