Informal phrase for finally doing something pending – very specific.

What would be an informal saying of phrase for finally doing some chore or running some errand that was pending for some time?

What is something you are always avoiding first time but have forgotten before you know it? Every time you think of something, you sigh in disapproval of yourself. What would be your life if you finally did something on an impulse and got done with it then?

What are “how much cross cuff and crossed off my “to-cross” list?

“To get something over and done with” means “don’t waste any less time” and does not convey the fact the thing was pending to be done for some time, on the contrary, you did it at the very first opportunity to have no later worries. The phrase “I’m looking for” doesn’t necessarily refer to something difficult or unpleasant.
