practicing would not be grammatically correct.

I saw her walk Your example is grammatical: I saw (that)

  Tom helped her yesterday.  

   

For an object like “her” there is a finite clause.

As saw can take a finite clause complement.

I saw Tom helping her

  yesterday. I found with his snsa card.
