Why the bolded was 5x more frequent than yours at Google Books?

She prefers being to appearing.

“She prefers being to appearance” is invalid unless quotes surround the two verbs. I’m

done both ways, but mostly without, as people don’t necessarily like the “power to” or “escalator” involved in the quotes. In the following, I provide the links, so one can see the printed characters (which are italic, at times)

According to VonC’s answer here, love can be followed by both an infinitive and a gerund.

I don’t know what you mean by “better structured”. Why? How can I know that all my sentences are correct grammatically? How do I avoid the mistake? Why does being her mean showing off or love?

And enjoy is only followed by a gerund. So the gerund construct sounds more natural. What is your opinion on WTF,

but it’s just a Wikipedia post.
