If it were that it could exist, what would it be?

Whether it be that they aged somewhat in looks is it subjuctive for

indicating an unreal or unlikely situation? Can this be put like this?

They remained the same unless they had aged somewhat in looks.

if I was about something that happened in the past? I can’t figure out how to make subjunctive in English and I’m a native speaker. “I would

not do anything of the sort unless I was specifically ordered to do so by a superior. ” I would like to test myself to be a good witness at all times. I will not doubt his presence. What

is a past subjunctive with if for “Unless”?
