I am trying to find the opposite of digging down. What I usually look for is searching the opposite of drilling down.

I am a programmer working on a chart component that allows to drill down on selection of a node. Drilling down will show the details of that node (like its child etc.). I am struggling to find out a word to describe the opposite of drilling down. Did Dril up sound dumb? What is a cute little word that means digging down? What to convey the action of moving from something more specific to something more general.

What makes Drill Up that more complicated? When I first hear the word “Roll up”, it usually has many different meanings, but I have never heard it used to mean “to encompass a more general perspective.” “Elevator View” is a good antonym. Not more colorful would be overview. A verb that doesn’t come to mind is good verb, but not a verb.

Drill up is indeed what is used in a large number of instances. What I mean by an example?

With zoom out, you get a larger picture of the data. It is not

necessary to zoom in.

Probably, you can use reverse drill down (or, reverse drilldown ).

Why is reverse drill down the opposite of Drill Down?

We are not here to talk. How can one improve upon my physics?

Why is the old drill up known as the roll up? Given its a decreasing granularity, it makes use of a decreasing

granularity showing things more globally.
