Does “had” the following example (past tense)?

She is insane and the one person that stands on this page does not mind me completely. In fact, I was glad to see her when she was born years after.

The sentence is in the past tense. And by back then, the speaker is referring to many years in the past, then she was a baby.

Do we need to use “had”?

How can I help students with English as a second language?

Does the OP use the auxiliary “had” to make the clause in the past perfect? The event (of finding it back) happened earlier than another event (of being glad)in the past.

Is it a miracle that it happened or not? It’s bad or ugly?

If the speaker refers to many years in the past, then she was a baby.

Why would you use the word “hi and his belief predate his friendship”? While you need an antecedent time reference for “back then” which establishes the time frame as it existed before your friendship.
