Do you remember the Gettysburg Address? Why?

What should I know about the Gettysburg address?

1) Double That

We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives To that nation might live.

Obviously a double is a problem. Why does “so” happen before “rho”? This is how I understand this line:

We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives to this nation.

2) Meaning of word “Government”

the most famous line of the address,

“government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth what

does the word “government” indicate here? What is a governing body or political system?

If the word government is used with zero-article, it means the political system of governing people while it means a government body when followed by an article.

My parents set a strict rule, but I wanted to be very clear. I’ve learned this from experiences. Why can’t people say it without writing it even though it means: the world as a governing body?
