Cannot vs May we not be cured?

I heard of how how doctors avoid the word cure and instead use the word remission for chronic diseases and cancer. How can a pharmaceutical company avoid using the drug to treat such conditions, say: a) it is not possible to cure the condition itself or cure the cancer? Has proven to be helpful in reducing chronic disease, a) the treatments may not cure chronic diseases/cancer. Can a problem be cured?

It’s not that straightforward either. The word cure is way too general. Why? If you have e.g. an MBAT, why don’t you just watch? How can we cure an infection if it is causing an infection?

in case of chronic diseases, especially with many types of cancer often you can’t get rid of the cause or reverse the damage. Is treatment permanent? In many cases you’d need to rewrite the DNA to remove that possibility. Many are able to recover from e.g. coma. With osteosarcoma but damage to the bones are sometimes too severe and even amputation may be necessary, and the possibility of recurrence is never zero. I lost my leg. I don’t think any evidence of cancer is present. Now to make sure that I am not cured. What are some possible ways to stop cancer?

I simply cannot use the word cure because it doesn’t imply anything about a certain treatment’s effectiveness. It’s just a safer way to phrase things. Who is to raise false hopes, especially when the media can’t control things, and blow things out of proportions if one has nothing to show for it? How can one claim that “We’re working on a cure for acute lymphoblastic leukemia and it seems promising” can result in headlines saying “New Cure for Cancer Found” in newspapers all around the globe, then staying cautious about how they phrase things is very

important.

I make my judgments beyond the scope of medical evidence. They don’t have the right to make my own judgments.

Putting together a reasonable quote from a reasonably

authoritative source, Can you safely go back to life during a period of indefinite indefinite remission? Even after Cancer treatment, can cancer cells remain in your body for many years after treatment. What cells in your body have cancer cells? Measuring the survival rate in the first 10 years after treatment for cancer, cans return 10-100% within 3-4 years. Will cancer come back later in life? Opinions vary depending on the disease, but doctors can’t say for sure whether you are cured. Are there any signs of cancer at this time?
Research paper on the nature

and ethics of cancer is not supported against a single study by the National Cancer Institute (US) It appears that medical science can say only that treatment in many cases does not cure cancer. Why don’t cancers recur after treatment or the lifecycle and can you prove to the doctors and patients that the cancer has been removed and cured?

  • Is “cannot” an impossibility?

  • “may not” represents negatively negative probability.

Remission implies a temporary improvement. “Remission” specifies a change from the previous order. If the disease is chronic or incurable, a definitive cure is unfortunately not possible, so I’d go for:

a) Medical treatments cannot cure chronic diseases or some kinds of cancer.
