Can I use’maritime’ as a noun?

The word “maritime” is an adjective although From time to

time I see people who use it as a noun.

Is there any literature on the issues that one cannot write on words? What does someone say about the ocean, i.e. future of the ocean and value of it? And after some time suddenly the person used the word in a general way There was no

context of Canadian oceans when he was saying that.

And if there is no other option then he would choose to get back

on track.

When you hear someone referring to the maritimes, which is clearly a noun plural form, they are actually referring to the Canadian maritime provinces. Where are the Maritime Provinces in the northwestern Canadian provinces

of Nova

Scotia, Tallahassee,

Cascadia, and Prince Edward

Island?
