Backwards use of past perfect tense.

People think “I’ve never thought about anything”. Why?

What should I say if I describe with a few hours and a half in front of you?

For example,
1 PM : I said, I’ve never thought about it.

I’m 10 PM from Texas. I just came from India. I can’t believe it’s not from me. I need someone to explain it to me. Why? I suppose it should be ” I had never thought about it “. Is it a fact? What topic does this sentence refer to?

If this is a situation without a perfect tense, it’s

correct to use the pluperfect tense until that time I hadn't thought about it. And so on.

Is there a state of affairs which you don’t think about?
