How do you pronounce Ls? I’m from

  • Nepal. there is no L in English as per the Chinese language.

I did research and, at least for American-English, there are two types: A “light L”, and a “dark L”. Individually, I

don’t have a problem, but putting the dark L together with another word is sometimes a challenge. I’m not sure about “all of”. For example, I’m uncertain about. Out of habit I use a light L to say it similar to “olive”, but from what I read (and correct me if I’m wrong), I think I’m supposed to use a dark L for “all”. Also, this is much uncomfortable to say, but I love it.

What is the correct way to pronounce all and all of? What is the difference when put together?

What causes a dark L to raise the back of the tongue? As “all of” is used in such a way, it’s possible that it is not used. All of and olive are different, but all of them may be quite different after all.

Does sound is dizzier, this is the linked post Confusion of the pronunciation of dark l consonant sound? But if there is no complete answer to this question, is no 100% complete answer?

Tom says in the question that

“L”: is “L” at the end of the word or after a vowel sound. Example: ball, pull.

Light “L for a vowel sound is “L” at the beginning or before it. Example: light, love and…

Araucaria says in an answer that

The rule for dark /l is that we always use dark /l/ when /l/ isn’t followed by a vowel. When we make the word falafel, the first /l/ is clear, and the second /d/ is dark.

Which words have no vowels and are followed by prefixes? ”

“It will happen soon. For sure. “
