Academic writing Photo or Photograph
Which form would be more appropriate in academic writing (stoicism, mathematics etc.)? The text does have a Holocaust and is being translated from Polish into English.

First off, photo = photograph = picture produced by photography and therefore, they’re interchangeable, although photo is the short form and more commonly used in the spoken language.
How should the verb in a such context be to lie or to rest, which means to remain in-the horizontal position. Also similar use in an English verb.
