When can I use the tense when I start thinking about whether I am still working there or not? I have been writing for the last 12 months at XYZ for the whole last year mean the whole year up to the date of writing. I worked there for the whole of last year ( is needed to distinguish ‘2011’ from ‘twelve months to date’) is equally grammatical, but means (or at least implies) that you no longer do so.? I have been working here for the whole of last year would mean for the whole of 2011 but invites the question ‘So what have you been doing since January? “.
In Chinese, my son is a person who loves to talk.

If you don’t argue with legislators, legislators will surely know. Why do judges act rather than make laws? Will it make me weak?

Townie is the obvious answer, but tourist or tripper often carry overtones of scorn and ‘urban, squat and full of guile’. I knew a young girl who wanted to hide under a seat in a car but couldn’t believe she was leaving in it. But to
keep her out, I showed her pictures.

All Greek gods are pagan gods, (not Pagan gods unless you want to make a point about them being unChristian or unChristian), but not all pagan gods are Greek.

Publicly is certainly the commoner version, but publically is a logical to answer questions in OED with half a dozen citations from 1727 to 1998, so it can’t be called a mistake.

A precisian would prefer He, too, wanted to do it if the intention was ‘Both he and his friend wanted to do it’, since He wanted to do it too might mean ‘he wanted to say it and do it’. There is no choice between the two, and you
have both got to have it all.

Is ‘in order’ a good phrase? Will “helpful” or “useful” also be possible; “necessary” or “needed” change the meaning slightly.
