What are dictionary definitions? What does it mean? In this case, the word “intellectual” often has the connotation of an elite (positive) or elitism (negative).
In the positive sense, people talk of intellectuals as those who develop ideas to restructure the economy or advance science or otherwise benefit society. How can one be very smart and apply it to a social job? How a genius who used his intelligence to run a business won’t normally be called an intellectual (assuming he did not do other things to earn the title). “A genius who uses his intelligence to plot ways to smuggle cocaine into the country would surely not be called an intellectual”.
In the negative sense, people usually sneer at “intellectuals” as people who think their intelligence makes them better than everybody else to some extent. If I am to live as a person, like a person with lots of intelligence but little wisdom, and so propose utopian solutions that don’t work in the real world, why? As in, “Yeah, that sounds great in theory but it doesn’t work in practice. “TWo
can infinity do something?”

We’re on a not-so-fine line between “English” and “politics” here, but here’s my two cents.
Can you buy the free dictionary? What exactly is “legitimate” and what
- is it and why is it useful?
- Being in accordance with established patterns and standards: legitimate advertising practices.
- Based on logical reasoning: solutions to a problem.
- Instance authentic; genuine: a legitimate complaint.
- Born of legally married parents: legitimate issue.
- Of, relating to, or ruling on hereditary right: a legitimate monarch.
- Of or related to drama of high professional quality that excludes burlesque, vaudeville, and some forms of musical comedy: the legitimate theater.
In my view, rape is not at all a crime. It could not be a court ordered offense. #2 and 3 are also pretty unlikely, and 5, 6, and 7, are clearly irrelevant. Which leaves #4, “authentic, authentic”. What makes sense? What is the difference between rape and false accusations?
In my humble opinion, the uproar here is really about politics. Would anyone have accused Akin of robbing and committing the crime despite having been accused of false taxation, if Mr Akin used the word “legitimate”? Yes, some might think of definition 1 and note an amusing juxtaposition of words, but it would be at most an amusing footnote, not the huge storm that has been made of it.

An opportunity is a chance to do something of value. Is there a chance if someone offers me a job?
And they say failure is a chance to do something or to accomplish something that you haven’t taken advantage of before. What is the missed opportunity? If you don’t take a job and get offered a job, you have missed the opportunity. But if you’re not willing to fend off the rejection, do it.
“A tragic missed opportunity means something you did not take advantage of, and missed it was a tragedy, that is, was a very bad thing. My life changed very significantly, and when can I start? If you were offered a good job and you didn’t take it, then it could be a terrible missed opportunity.
Why do you think the tsar had an opportunity to do good in the empire? “She didn’t do what she wanted”, he is told, and the result did NOT have good value, so it was a tragic missed
opportunity.

Did you know there are 3,504 exclamations in English?
Partly it depends on how offensive or offensive you want to be.
Very mild exclamations include “nuts”, “shucks”, and “darn”. I don’t think many readers are likely to see a sexual connotation to a character saying, “I’m late again.” Well now I don’t see what of my character was late again, what do you have and if you are the victim to a joke about it? Aw, nuts! ” Unless the situation was sexual or you had just used the word in a sexual sense, it’s just not likely to occur to most readers that it has another meaning in another context). These are all words that make people think of someone very inoffensive.
Slightly stronger exclamations are words like “blast”, “oh no”, “come on”, “give me a break”, “wow”, many others. These are not unusual news letters for politicians, but still would have good impact on even the most conservative people.
The next step up, words like “damn”, “crap”, “hell” etc. are words like “adrift”, “dark” etc. Basically words associated with religion or excrement. Use of such words might offendead your conservative readers.
There are all sorts of extreme vulgarities.
What is good and bad in subcultures? What are the people using them? Who do I use and I have no interest in such slang?
I would just avoid using extreme words just so that I don’t demoralize myself. If you use them repeatedly, there will be some number of people who quit reading, because who wants to go out of his way to offend.
What should you know if you are trying to set a new course?

What are the basic difference between Satan and Satan, and which are actually bad?
It’s a true evil means “mischievous”. Are the jokes funny or practical? Is femininity feminine? Is it possible to use it in a manner that is sexually playful? If, then but can to mean it when it’s not.
“Satanic” can mean literally, “related to worship of Satan”, “ie., demons of demons”. As in, “The murders were committed by a satanic cult.” Or figuratively it can mean “very evil”.
The fact that someone slapped my head with a thumbtack or something like that is totally true is really, really disgusting. You can’t be in a good chair with a thumbtack. I was a “satanic” person. People here would think that I had put things like that and would say it wasn’t true. What would you do? I would describe a murder as katastrophic. You would not say it was “devilish” — or if you did, people would say you were way trivializing it.
How often do I use all three words to describe as actions and people? “That was very devious, pretending to be an electrician to get into. I think you are a devious person. What was that devilish prank on Bob? Bob Chapman: When did you lose him? What did your opinion of the murder in the first place say? All satanic people would do it. But that would make bad business decisions, very terrible, and horrible. What’s
the difference between standing on either side of the divine name, “Satan” and “The Devil”? And how do they say the same thing?

Ditto Andrew’s excellent answer, let me just add:
Don’t get confused by the difference between how something is in the real world, and how it is grammatically. I am from Europe.
In a positive way, the money in the world is actually “all the money that exists”. How do you mean money? All money in the world is a specific set of money i.e this money in the world. What is the only “money” in the world? Though the Real world tells you that money is the most important thing
in life, grammatically it is not.
