Is there any error in logic when you dangle a modifier with a modifier? Why do we need a gerund at the start of a sentence? Sometimes, a sentence has more than one subject tied with the gerund. There are writers who, not so young, can mix their meaning up.
Running to
the bus, Jillian saw her friend Tom (or for
that matter) Jillian saw
her friend Tom running to the bus.The dangling modifiers above generate confusion. Will Jillian even stop her as
she ran to the bus?Jillian saw her
husband in a walk. He ran over to the bus. (as comparedto) (3) Jillian saw his friends; after that, she broke up with him and ran to the bus.
