The term one-to-one is used when talking about a transfer or communication. I want one to one. You may use one-to-one when you can identify source and destination. For example. Sword and words for eg. , one-to-one emails is one sent from a single person to another, i.e. a Facebook id email and a personal email are one sent to the customer. He says, no ccs. no bccs. In maths, a one-to-one mapping maps one element of a set to a unique element in a target set.
One-on-one is the correct adjective in your example. Do you have any experience with Free dictionary? One to one has traditionally been used to facilitate mutual exchange between two people. In this case, it seems that one person is the one behind the whole process because there is no one to share the story.
What is the difference between using and using hyphens?

A proper substitute for having a low opinion would be belittle :
To make small
To make (something or someone) out to be insignificant or unimportant
I doubt if it could act as a proper substitute while conveying the same meaning, in your sentence may question if it will contribute to a larger issue. Instead you could use one of the many synonyms of hate as JLG suggests.
- What do you think about the TV show “Peggy”?
Why I haven’t thought about blogging for a year or two?
