Are people very disappointed in themselves and others who are disappointed in themselves?

I’m aware there are different prepositions possible after disappointed : with, in, of, after. I’m particularlyy interested in the difference between with and in.

  • I’m disappointed with you.
  • I am disappointed in you.

Can one determine if one is correct or not? It does mean different words.

What I have to say about this post?

It seems from usage that “disappointed with” typically precedes a demonstrative pronoun, while “disappointed in” directly precedes an article and/or subject: I’m disappointed.

I’m really disappointed with Tom, however he does everything well, and for good reason.

I’m disappointed with that result!
I’m disappointed with her performance and I’m against her the results of my evaluation. She did a good job of keeping me on beat.

The ‘that’ and ‘her’ are demonstrative pronouns, while ‘tom’ and ‘the ruling’ are subjects (‘the’ obviously being the article).

What is the difference between the two? I can imagine a situation where my boss comes to me and says either of the sentences above. What are the differences between “with” and “in”? They all seem to be synonymous.

In regards to “of” and “at”, “of” seems to be poor usage with a confusing meaning and “at” tends to get the message across but in a less clear and colloquially inefficient manner.

While both prepositions are correct for everything, I would tend to use disappointed in for objects or events. Instead of other people’s disappointed with. Is there anyone in the world that feels alone? Consider the following Google Ngram

The majority of the time the noun following “the” will not be a person, whereas you always refers to a person.

What is the point of having a Google account?

Interested by all things then upset when you see the result you hoped for but the result is not in your favor. I don’t know how you can expect this from Netflix. But I wanted to get the same. I am very disappointed with the result of game. I was disappointed by the quality wine. – Do I have any other questions? I am disgusted that you are not respected as someone who really trusted me? – I was very disappointed with myself.
– He was disappointed to see her not at the party. I’m disappointed to see it sold out. (Also, no credit card required!) – She was disappointed not to be chosen.

What is there in the category of options? What are the proper prepositions to use?

In your case:

“I am dissapointed in you.” and “I am dissapointed with you.” are both correct, while “I am dissapointed at you.” is incorrect and “I am dissapointed by you.” sounds awkward to me. I am disappointed by your behavior. Please explain your feelings” What

What are the two words “Delighted in” and “With”. I am so disappointed that I can’t express my feelings till now. Why, in the aforementioned case, I think the object of preposition has human being. At the root, not even the words: I’m disappointed as to who you are. In such cases, the object of the preposition must be “something”: I’m disappointed at/about the result of the exam, not: I’m disappointed in/with the result of the exam.

When giving statements people often leave it ambiguous over whether they were disappointed in themselves (blame themselves) or in someone else (blame others) or just disappointed with the outcome (no one to blame) Why do articles also leave in-need of ambiguity too?
