How do I browse a shop or browse in a shop?

I read articles on Internet, and many are really funny, I know people do but I don’t know what to say anymore. Every time they do, it is just me. If you search any dictionary for word and what is it, it will say that.

On the same token one can browse through a shop.

Is shopping in a shop more appropriate? Why is everyone so confused by the thought of being so focused on things? Can you suggest a conversion of words that also have a change in meaning? After all, whether it’s a magazine, the Internet or a shop, I’m still glancing at stuff (whether reading or looking at pictures/objects).
