There is a set of exams (e.g. 5-200 pts). Do students take two subjects on SAT and AP exam each semester, and if so, is it necessary for them to take at least one of them? My friend know which one he’s taking, so I’m asking him which ones. And here, I am. Which is the correct sentence?

sounds weird to me, especially the second (even though I believe that it is technically the correct one).
