“Deployed” stabilizer fins: installed in dock or unfolded at sea?
I have the following passage :
When rough waters hit a cruise ship, the vessel remains surprisingly level. I get this from a video with others who have taken the video. The same hulls are oped out at different frequencies and are mounted to the waterline. Each opede has a hull stabilizer. What are the various components of it? How small are these small parts able to reduce roll by more than 85 percent? Shaped like aeroplane wings, these fins are deployed from the side of the hull and pivot forward or backward to exert dive or lift. Consequently they counteract the waves’ effect.
What do you think is the meaning of deploy here: whether were the fins installed in a dock (“deployed”) or are they unfolded as needed when (the?) weather turns rough?
