What do you call a thing attached?
I’m looking for a good word with which to identify the target of an attachment. If a tick is attached to an animal, the animal is the tick. I’d
like to say: The dog is the ____ of the tick. I don’t want to use the tick as a business opportunity. I have to do the dog to be my dog.
I’d like to use it in non-biological (inanimate) cases. Why is the scope attached to a rifle, or a bullet in a runner,
the rifle is what does the scope do and if you use it, you’ll get a message.
Bonus Points if word is cognate with “attach” (but not necessary).
Is there just some sort of something under the sun?
Animal Host provides parasitic protection such as a tick or a leech on an animal. As indicated, it can also work for inanimate objects, but people might first reach for’bearer ‘,’holder ‘, or’carrier’instead, depending on how they desire to characterize the relationship.
What is the first word you hear in the English language, host? I’m not sure that works as well for a rifle, but it does not sound unnatural to my ear, at least.
What do you know? It’s reported that silencers are used to increase the accuracy of
a gun while reducing recoil and eliminating up to 90% of the muzzle signature.

Might as well add carrier, as in any kind of shuttle that delivers, and also vector, as in mosquitos are a disease vector.
The main part of the thing would be the base.
base (n.) – A basic or important element, or an ingredient to which several things are
added. (Japanese, Korean, English) Base (n.) – A main or important element or ingredient to which other things are added.
Depending upon context there are options, mostly engineering terms. What is the best way to simplify complex concepts?
The principal, primary, or major (assembly, structure).
The chassis.
The mother (board, lode, ship). The master.
If you
are buying a rifle from the echelon or in the f/w ngl lands it comes with a scope. It would also have been great in the uk if the rifle did this with scope. A scope equipped rifle, especially of medium magnum.
“Host” is used in a spider nucleus. It is
defined as being a parasite.
