I can do something yesterday by writing again but today is too late.

When speaking about the past, I know that “could” can’t be used for single events (Young people could go there but I did not).

What if we talk about an ability that ceased to exist? Are the following words in English correct?

I could walk last night, but today I can barely walk. What were my chances?

Where is the answer for “google” if “common sense” was the most important to you?

I’m not sure if lifting the couch is an ability, to me it seems more like a single event, lifting a specific couch, that occurred yesterday. If you lift couches for a moving company, it is a general ability. Say something like: “Before the injury I could lift couches, but now I can hardly walk.” ”

“Tomorrow, I have to go back and try again. “
