What is the phrase “trade-in” from an article ?

What is wrong with this question already

  • having an answer here: “trade in”

meaning 3 answers I just have read an article on Yahoo! Right now.

The headline says,

Apple’s iPhone trade-in boost has just begun.

I’ve never asked about a phrase that I should ask instead of my own question. I really don’t understand it, and I figured it out a decade ago. I may have asked for more posts, but looking back the answers on Quora, is that a true question?

Does trading in mean that Apple is considering purchasing the old iPhones? What is a real

guess?
