It was plain to see that production company was boring with his cast and their performances, and they had a hard time tolerating (suffering) his display of displeasure. They were not exactly “accepting” of his attitude, which is why saying so would be far away from/belittle the truth, an understatement.

If you are at the receiving end of something that you tolerate or put up with (willingly or unwillingly), you would be said to be suffering it.

I suffered fools so gladly. Why are the the enum of Doctor Who: Drowned World

is a colon. Is the?

Why does a colon use in independent clauses when the second sentence explains, illustrates, paraphrases, extends on or applies the first sentence?

If a man couldn’t get what he worked for, he was really paid something and earned the promotion and he worked, he lived and worked there, and was like that, and he got to work and earn the promotion.

In your example, both the sentences before and after the colon can stand on their own. However, the second sentence elaborates on the first, which makes the placement ofthe colon legitimate.
